Wait...
so War makes us richer???
1950s prosperity module
Prosperity
The United States came out of the war and the Great Depression is now over because of the jobs that the war created. The United States is a world power and is looked at as the capital of the world for ingenuity as of now. People are living in suburbs, areas surrounded with middle class homes, and living the All-American life.
Consumption
Many American's are buying things because they have a little extra money to throw around in order to do so. They are consuming products that are sold in the store windows and on tv advertisements. Credit is still around but it used more carefully than it was in the 1920s.
Baby Boom
Men who fought in WW2 came home from the war to their wives or got married to the women who were waiting on them and they had children right away.
This led to a huge population surge for the time. These people are now known as the Baby Boomers.
Later on when the Baby Boomers became of age for children, there was another boom, because the large population had many children as well.
Standard of Living
People could afford to buy gadgets for their homes and host parties for their friends. Many people owned a tv and a vehicle and wanted the latest oven or toaster. Teenagers were able to get jobs after school if they wanted a little extra cash. Many people worked jobs we would consider minimum wage today, like managing a convenience store, for an average living during this time.
Technology
Technology of the 1950s and 1960s was mostly about the home. Better ovens and toasters were the new thing. Vacuums and colored TVs were all the hype as well. Many people had repair men that would come and fix an oven or a vacuum because buying a new one wasn't as easy or cheap as it is today.
